The Bullring Bull

Watercolour study of the Bullring Bull, I wanted to work on a larger scale to get more detail into my painting - This is on A1 size paper. I used a rigger brush to capture the smooth but powerful lines of the sculpture. The watercolour tones added to form the bulls muscles. Really enjoyed working on a larger scale!

Places to eat Pigeon

Pen and ink on the back of a cereal box - possible character for a pigeons guide to Birmingham?

A Pigeons guide to Birmingham

Working on my Map of Birmingham - the concept of the book has changed and will now be a guided tour of Birmingham with special guides of a pigeon and rat. The book will be accompanied by my multicolour pigeon comic for my final major. This map will be coloured using watercolours. The idea of using my characters in this book is that without a bit of humour the book is in danger of being too straight and quite boring, the characters add humour and interest.

Birmingham Cityscape

The cityscape was drawn on acetate and digitally coloured in the second image, last night I tried using brown and grey cereal boxes and watercolouring shaded details I finished the scene off with a sky blue watercolour wash. As each layer was separate pieces of paper I decided to tier the image using card tabs to create a 3d effect. When I photographed this it gave interesting shadows and I quite like the way the church spire is leaning to one side.

Magnus comic

My first comic commission! I was asked by a friends friend to draw a comic based on the story of him and his girlfriend falling in love. Nice idea, so I hope I pulled it off! The likenesses had to be spot on and found myself redrawing a few of the faces but apart from that it all went really well! Him and his girlfriend are really happy with the comic so I've done my job!

The A to Z of Birmingham

The travel book is taking shape now, the concept is now alphabetical, to help me keep it to 26 pages, I'm working on a flat plan and will have a finished double page spread by next week. Here is the text for the front page and the start page, with the Bull welcoming you!

Birmingham Town Square

The next day was spent drawing the statues in the Town Square - I also came across Judge Dredd and a couple of Storm Troopers arresting a young kid so I swiftly took a photo so i could draw from it later.
